Position: Accounting Controller
Location: Indianapolis
 
Position Overview:
As an Accounting Controller, you will be pivotal in overseeing and managing the organization's financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving process improvements. Your
responsibilities will include maintaining accurate financial records, implementing internal controls, and preparing comprehensive financial reports. Success in this role requires a strong emphasis on financial control, strategic planning, financial stability, and transparency. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in manufacturing and a strong controller-focused skill set. We seek an individual with 3 to 5 years of experience, including recent graduates with relevant exposure.

Responsibilities:
Financial Controlling and Reporting
• Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income
statements, and cash flow statements.
• Monitor and manage the organization's budget, ensuring strategic goals and financial objectives
are aligned.
• Prepare financial forecasts and provide insights to support decision-making. 
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
 
Internal Controls and Compliance
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure
accuracy in financial reporting in alignment with our corporate office.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Collaborate with external and Internal auditors and facilitate audit processes.
 
Expense Management and Cost Analysis:
• Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
• Monitor and control expenses, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
• Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess financial performance.
 
Accounts Management:
• Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate
processing.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and other accounting transactions.
• Manage cash flow and liquidity to support operational needs and strategic investments. 
Financial Planning:
• Collaborate with senior management to develop financial strategies that align with organizational
goals.
• Provide recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiencies.
• Support decision-making processes through detailed financial analysis and scenario planning.
 
Team Leadership:
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous
improvement.
• Provide training and support to ensure team members are equipped with up-to-date knowledge
and skills.
• Set clear performance expectations and conduct quarterly KPI evaluations
 
Process Improvement:
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
• Participate in projects aimed at streamlining and automating accounts payable processes
 
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred
• Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills; experience with SAP or similar ERP
systems are a plus
• Able and willing to take on new technologies and software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven experience in financial controlling, auditing, or a similar leadership role within the
accounting field.
• Preferred: Experience in manufacturing accounting environments, with exposure to cost
accounting and operational analysis.
 
Working Conditions:
This position typically operates in an office environment during regular business hours. Occasional
flexibility might be required during peak periods or to accommodate time-sensitive tasks.
