The Commercial HVAC Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining HVAC systems within commercial facilities. This role requires expertise in system optimization, troubleshooting, and a strong commitment to meeting industry standards and energy efficiency requirements. The ideal candidate will work closely with architects, project managers, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery from initial design to system commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • HVAC System Design and Implementation: Design, develop, and optimize HVAC systems for commercial buildings to ensure maximum efficiency and performance.
  • Load Calculations and Energy Modeling: Conduct detailed load calculations, energy modeling, and system sizing to meet project specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with local codes, regulations, and Waldrop’s high standards for quality and safety.
  • System Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform regular inspections and maintenance of HVAC systems to ensure longevity and functionality, and troubleshoot HVAC issues, proposing sustainable solutions when needed.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with architects, project managers, and other engineers to coordinate project details, ensuring timely and successful project completion.
  • Industry Knowledge and Compliance: Stay informed about advancements in HVAC technology, energy efficiency practices, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and implement best practices in system design and maintenance.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC design and engineering, particularly focused on commercial facilities.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in HVAC load calculation software (e.g., Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP) and AutoCAD, with a strong understanding of mechanical codes, standards, and energy-efficiency principles.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to resolving HVAC issues.
  • Team-Oriented: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate within a multidisciplinary team environment.
