The Commercial HVAC Project Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of assigned projects. This includes overseeing the delivery of materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractors during the installation phase to meet or exceed customer and company objectives related to cost, schedule, quality, and safety. This role will also support the company’s sales and estimating efforts to secure new projects. The position is non-exempt and may require overtime based on business needs..

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Cost Control: Verify bid estimates with estimators and establish cost control and procurement strategies. Participate in post-bid meetings to understand project components and establish methodology.
  • Scheduling and Manpower Planning: Develop preliminary project schedules and submit to customers for integration. Determine anticipated manpower needs and coordinate with management for staffing and recruiting.
  • Procurement and Resource Coordination: Procure materials, subcontractors, and leased equipment as required, ensuring timely delivery to maximize productivity.
  • Field Operations and Safety: Lead and coordinate field operations, ensuring all aspects align with the scope of work, safety standards, and productivity goals. Provide customers with company safety program documentation and OSHA compliance records.
  • Design and Change Management: For design/build projects, oversee, review, and approve system designs, costing, and changes as needed.
  • Installation and Testing Oversight: Direct and manage the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment per contract requirements.
  • Budget and Contract Support: Assist with bid preparation, budget creation, and contract negotiations. Negotiate subcontract agreements to align with project goals.
  • Administrative Duties: Oversee project reports, approve expenditures, review submittals and manuals, enforce company policies, perform personnel evaluations, and provide monthly updates on project performance and safety compliance.
  • Mentorship and Talent Development: Mentor and coach team members, support recruitment, and help foster a positive, skilled workforce.
  • Sales and Project Closeout: Support sales efforts by providing insights and expertise. Conduct project closeout meetings with the estimating team to analyze performance and build cost databases.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC design and engineering focused on commercial facilities, or 5 years of experience as a commercial mechanical contractor.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical codes, standards, and energy-efficiency principles, with a focus on commercial HVAC systems.
  • Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong organizational skills, and the ability to lead and work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with clients, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
