Mission Moment Series: You Belong Exemplified in the Field
At NCW, our “You Belong” core value is more than just words—it’s a commitment to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. As a company committed to diversity, we constantly ask ourselves, “Are we going outside of our walls? Does everyone feel like they are a part of the team?” One recent moment at a South Bend job site perfectly captured this value in action.
A Hard Hat Tells a Story
“On job sites, we all know that hard hats are kind of a representation of you,” said Recruiting Manager, Ashley Kutch. “A lot of people take their hard hats very seriously. They put what they’re proud of on them—their OSHA certifications, site-specific training, and anything else that shows their hard work.”
Recently, at one of our major South Bend job sites, Frank Mata, a member of the NCW field support team, snapped a photo that made us proud. On one of our field employee’s hard hats was an NCW Hispanic Heritage Month sticker. It was a simple but powerful reminder that our message of belonging was making an impact beyond the office.
“It was pretty cool to share that with everybody because it goes back to our ‘You Belong’ core value,” Ashley continued. “And it was exciting to see that our field employees were proud to display their support for Hispanic Heritage Month at a South Bend job site.”
A Powerful Reminder of Inclusion
Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Seeing our employees embrace and celebrate diversity in the field is what we love it see. It proves that our commitment to inclusion is more than just talk—it’s a reality. Whether it’s through small details like stickers or the way our teams support each other, the culture we build on every site, not just the South Bend job site, matters.
