LEADING MANUFACTURER STRUGGLES TO KEEP UP WITH PRODUCTION DEMANDS, INCREASES WORKFORCE BY 1,000

Thinking Outside of the Box to Satisfy Client Needs On-Site.

CLIENT – LIPPERT COMPONENT INDUSTRIES (LCI)

The Challenge

Lippert could not keep up with the hiring needs that were required to meet production demand. With such a high volume of employees, they were struggling to manage their payroll as well.

The Plan

NCW would create a two-phased on-
site recruiting process to help with quick turnaround on a high volume of candidates & management of onboarding and time collection.

The results

Lippert was able to hire nearly 5,000 new employees over a three-year period. Over 20% of Lippert’s new hires during that span came directly from NCW recruiters.

Unexpected Demand

As the pandemic produced many unforeseen challenges, one that was surprisingly good for business was the increased demand for recreational vehicles. Lippert grew tremendously during the pandemic as households across the world wanted to travel without risking their health & safety. Thus, the demand for components required to build these vehicles rapidly increased, and along with it, the production requirements & labor.

A New Approach

Because the deficit in manual labor was negatively impacting the level of production that would enable Lippert to capitalize on the increased demand, they had to look for a new solution quickly. In 2020, NCW offered its first on-site agreement to Lippert with the hope that it would supply enough talent to meet the high-volume demand in the Goshen/Elkhart market. The agreement was initially set for six months and provided on-site recruiting support at one Lippert plant with potential to add on others. After 180 days of the agreement, Lippert would evaluate performance. There were two phases to this approach. The first phase was part-time on site presence. In phase two, the part-time NCW employee would convert to full-time on site at Lippert. This unique arrangement offered Lippert the additional resource of an NCW employee on site at all times to answer questions, help with applications, onboarding, hiring events and even safety checks.

The Results

After a successful first 180 days, Lippert continued its partnership with NCW and hired over 1,000 employees at Lippert plantsin a span of three years. Lippert revenue increased by $1.68 billion between 2020 and 2022. On average, NCW has been able to provide 250 talented individuals each since 2020.
